Arson Caused Tervels Fire Nearly Extinguished

Lisa Carlson

The Tervels Fire just off Interstate 80 and north of Echo Reservoir is just about out, after it was set on purpose Monday afternoon.

As of today, the fire is at 95% containment. Firefighters are optimistic they have a handle on it and reported that Thursday’s update would be the last unless fire conditions significantly changed.

The fire was human caused and investigators continue to look for who may be responsible for setting this one– as well as a handful of others…Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Summit County sheriff department at 435-615-3500

Three engines remain on site 536 acres has burned.

The Echo Creek Ranches four miles east of the fire is no longer in pre-evacuation status. The one-lane eastbound I-80 closure between mile markers 169 and 171 has been  lifted.
