Art Starts Here Gala Kicks Off Art Fest Weekend

The Kimball Art Center is inviting people to get their tickets now for a formal gala set to kick off the Kimball’s Art Fest weekend.

Amy Roberts, the Kimball’s communication director told KPCW the event is set for Thursday night, August 2nd, at the Dejoria Center near Kamas.

She said it’s a formal event, complete with gowns for the women and tuxes for the men. She had further details on the event, being organized by gala chair Maren Mullin.

“Maren and our committee have been phenomenal in helping us to plan it. We’ve secured some awesome auction prizes that you can only win if you buy tickets to the gala and come bid. Things like a safari to Botswana. Season tickets to the sold-out Wasatch Speaker Series front row tickets with an opportunity to meet one of the speakers of your choice. We have a trip to Antarctica.” Roberts continued, “Maren secured the big play house. Big is the architect for the new Kimball Art Center which will be built in the Arts and Culture District. They have designed a play-house, a she-shed, a man-cave, based on the design from the Kimball Arts Center that was on Main Street years ago.” Local construction company, Synergy, will build the structure.

Tickets are $300 a person, or $3,000 for a group of 10. Roberts said they also have free transit from the Quinn’s Junction area.

“Once you purchase your tickets online, you can sign up to take the bus which will be leaving from the USSA, near Round Valley, the Ski Team building. That will take you to and from the Dejoria Center so, no problem to have a couple cocktails and enjoy the evening.” Roberts said, “Of course, there will be dinner and Maren has done a lot of exciting entertainment vignettes. We want to surprise our audience with, so we won’t get too into them. You won’t be bored that’s for sure.”

She said the bus will leave at 5:30 that night and return around 9:00pm.
