Four suspects were arrested in Summit and Wasatch Counties last week for identity theft and drug dealing offenses, following a multi-agency investigation.
The Utah Attorney General’s Office, in a statement, said their SECURE Strikeforce investigation arrested the suspects for a total of 17 felonies and one Class A Misdemeanor.
The Attorney General’s statement said the suspects are undocumented and have been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (or ICE.)
The statement said that last Wednesday, investigators served two search warrants simultaneously.
Charging documents in Third District Court indicate three suspects were arrested for Identity Theft or Forgery. All have the last name Alvarez-Arreola, including 31-year-old Rodrigo, 35-year-old Fransisco Javier, and 28-year-old Juan Pablo.
Affidavits for all of them report that they were using Social Security numbers and Permanent Resident Alien numbers for employment in Summit County, and that those IDs belonged to other people.
Another defendant, 40-year-old Pedro Carlon-Rangel, was also arrested for Identity Fraud. He is also charged with five counts of Drug Distribution. An affidavit said that since June, he sold methamphetamine five times to an undercover officer—the most recent occasion being August 22nd when he was arrested.
The Attorney General’s office said they partnered with officers from the Park City Police, Summit County, Wasatch County Sheriff, and the Heber Police, as well as agencies from Ogden, Orem, Bountiful and Davis County.
