Los Lonely Boys Performs At New Park City Performing Arts Big Stars Bright Nights Quinn's Venue

Park City Performing Arts Institute

The Big Stars Bright Nights Concert Series opens their season on Tuesday with Los Lonely Boys at their new venue at the Quinn’s Junction Recreation Complex.  Park City Institute has held the summer outdoor series at the Deer Valley Amphitheater for the past 14 years. Carolyn Murry has this:

Earlier this year, Deer Valley announced it will no longer host the St. Regis Big Stars Bright Nights Summer Concert series.  That left Park City Institute’s Teri Orr scrambling to find a new location.  The Pop-Up concert series will premier Tuesday night with their opening act, Los Lonely Boys.

"This is a big undertaking and doing a pop-up concert venue is not something that we’ve ever done before. But we have had tremendous support from the community. We have all kinds of food trucks that will be there. We have porto potties that are simply lovely called Simply Privies. We have some only in Park City surprises for tomorrow night.  We are really looking forward to the new venue and kicking off our summer series.”

They have just a handful of staff to pop up and tear down the event in a 24 hour time frame.  Orr says a lot of friends and volunteers are helping to pull it off.

“We have eight full time people and that includes the tech director and the sound guy.  We’re a pretty small staff. The women of Silly Market have been extraordinary in sayig we can help you with the picnic tables.  We can help you with the barriers.  They’ve just really jumped in and I can’t thank them enough.”

There is no general parking at the Quinn’s venue and the traffic issues on 248 can be easily impacted by an event of this size.  Orr says shuttles from the Park and Ride lots will run regularly and they’ll offer a bike valet at the event.

“So you jump on the bus two places.  One is the Eccels Center which has ample parking…no need to worry about that.  The other is Richardson Flat which also has ample parking.”

The food offering will be different in the new location with a variety of food trucks available to concert goers.

“Well, I should say tis.  We’ve never been able to have food vendors before so this is great fun for us. Riverhorse Provisions, Freshies Lobster, Spencers BBQ, Wasatch Creamery, Praise Cheeses …so a whole lot of folks providing great food.”

The concert starts at 6.  Gates open at 4:30 and the shuttles start at 3:30.  They will be measuring lawn chair heights at the gates and they’re limited to 10 inches high.  Adult beverages will not be sold at the venue but there are no restrictions on bringing your own. Orr says they haven’t sold out and there are a couple of options for picking up tickets.

“Limited to 2500 but we still have room. Yes there are still tickets available…please, please, please. You can get them aqt the Genius Store or just going online to the Genius Store on Swede Alley. You can buy them at the Eccles Center on day of show.  We’re moving over to the Eccles Box Office for convenience. That’s one of the places you could pick up a bus ride over to the venue. And once you get to Quinn’s and you haven’t been able to purchase tickets, and you are arriving after 4 o’clock, there will be tickets available.”

The second concert of the season has to switch venues to City Park on July 13th, where Indie Rock artist, Grace Potter will perform.  After that show, all the St. Regis Big Stars Bright Nights performances are back at the Quinn’s location.
