Snow Ranch Pasture Easement Receives Matching Grant

Utah Open Lands says it has received an important matching grant that will boost its chances of saving the 19-acre Snow Ranch Pastures property, in the Thaynes neighborhood of Park City.

Utah Open lands is aiming to raise $6 million by December to purchase a conservation easement on the property.

In a press release on Monday, the group announced that every dollar donated for Snow Ranch will be matched up to $625,000. Open Lands director Wendy Fisher said they can’t disclose the foundation that made the grant, but they are grateful.

She said, “This doubles each donation made. We hope that this will provide the boost that this campaign needs as we only have until December 15th.”

The property is zoned for three lots an acre—or up to a potential 57 lots. If the easement is acquired, Fisher added, the owners from two branches of the Armstrong family are willing to consider a trail connection to adjacent Park City land.

Open Lands is also asking residents to hold open houses for neighbors to encourage support and to raise awareness.
