The Morning Mix

Fridays, 9 to 10 AM

This music and entertainment show always features local and national musicians performing live in studio, a run-down of weekend events, and timely interviews with event producers, community event organizers and a diverse mix of athletes, taste-makers, performers, recreationalists, and locals of notoriety. 
The Morning Mix is co-hosted each week by its own 'locals of notoriety', John "JW" Wells and Christie Dilloway.

Celebrating St. Patricks Day, a stripped-down version of Pennyland joins The Morning Mix as the show's musical guests. Event designer, Joe Urankar paints the visual picture of what he's doing to transform The Yard in to a swanky, artsy, club atmosphere for a very unique happening called Blank Canvas, put on by Park City Summit County Arts Council next Friday. And Jess Miller, Senior Communications Specialist at Park City Mountain, unveils all the events scheduled on the mountain for spring. These include free concerts, contests, giveaways, and of course, pond skimming!

Tony Oros explains his journey from on-air talent and musician to booking agent and promoter in Park City and throughout the Mountain West. Rock & Roll Hall of Famers and surf-rock instrumentalists The Ventures talk about the band's 60-year legacy,  why they're big in Japan, and their shows this weekend at Egyptian Theatre.

Today on The Morning Mix, JW and Christie broadcast live from McPolin Elementary.  The First guest is Hannah Rackman, Music teacher and choir director.  The second guest is school Principal Bob Edminson. Then, they visit with Kathy Anderson, Early Childhood Program Specialist at the Park City School District.  Musical guests were student choir members from McPolin Elementary.

On The Morning Mix, musical guest Tim Daniels is in studio, as well as Marlis Tasker and Caleb Wall from The Timpanogos Belvederes Improv Troupe, who are part of a last-Saturday-of-the-month Improv show at Timpanogos Valley Theatre. Also Andy  Frasco visited about his bands after hour’s concert at Snowbasin on Saturday.

Today's guests include local spirits distiller Rob Sergent of Alpine Distillery, whose Traveler's Rest American Single Malt Whiskey received "double gold" and a "50 Best Whiskey" recognition last week. Local musical guests Telluride Meltdown perform in studio, and early rock 'n' roll musical and cultural icon Chubby Checker joins us before his shows at Egyptian Theater this weekend. (During Rob Sergent's interview you might hear Telluride Meltdown jamming with Chubby Checker in the greenroom.)

Today's Morning Mix is jam-packed with music, musicians, and music programmers. Jordan Matthew Young,2016 winner of the Utah Music Awards Best Album and Best Rock Band is in studio with Cory from the Green River Blues Band. Anders Osborne talks about playing two solo acoustic shows at The State Room. Jarom Rowland, senior manager of the film music program at Sundance Film Festival, will be announcing the ASCAP Music Cafe schedule. In addition to these interviews we update you on all the music and events happening in and around town this weekend. 

    

Today we welcome local singer-songwriter Cameron Mercer, who will be performing throughout the program. Our first guest is Lanny Derby, a member of Park City Curling Club, who will coach us on how to watch curling during the Olympics. Next up is Carl Roepke, a veteran of the US Luge Team who announces bobsled, luge and skeleton competitions at Utah Olympic Park. He'll explain what to expect in Korea, how to watch the sliding sports, and provide highlights on selected sports and athletes.
