Park City Fire District Responds To Fire At Thaynes Canyon Home

Park City Fire District

The Park City Fire District and other emergency services responded to an incident in the Thaynes Canyon area Tuesday afternoon.

A small part of a home started smoldering after someone used a torch to melt ice between the chimney and deck of the home. Park City Fire District spokesperson Tricia Hurd Hazelrigg says the person was working to address some water pooling into the space between the chimney and deck. The person had intended to caulk the space, but there was ice in the way. The person used a torch to melt the ice. The homeowner later smelled smoke and alerted emergency services. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

Hazelrigg says no one was injured, but an ambulance was dispatched along with the fire vehicles just in case.
