After a decrease in new COVID-19 cases due to the holiday weekend, Utah saw 2,736 new cases Tuesday.
Summit County saw 33 new cases, and in comparison, last Tuesday Summit reported 29 new cases.
Wasatch County reported 29 new cases. Last Tuesday the county saw 26.
Utah’s Department of Health reported 16 new deaths Tuesday. To date, 1,235 Utahns have died of the disease, including five from Summit County and 15 from Wasatch County.
The state saw an increase of 7,347 new tests administered. The statewide 7-day rolling average for positive tests is nearing 25% which is just over Monday’s average.
Summit County’s seven-day average of positive laboratory tests is 18%, and nearly 24% of tests are coming back positive on average in Wasatch County.
Utah’s Department of Health reported 120 new hospitalizations. There are 506people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Statewide, over 82% of referral center ICU beds are in use, which is down from Monday.
Some 2,870 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Monday, bringing the total number to over 20,400 first doses administered. The state has received more than 100,000 doses of vaccines.
