Summit County reported a new COVID-19 death Thursday. A woman between 65-84 years old who was hospitalized at the time of her death has died of the virus. That brings the number of Summit County residents who have died of COVID to 18.
Tuesday’s COVID update from the Utah Department of Health reported that 5,739 more doses of vaccine were administered to Utahns in the past day. And the state saw 1,704 new cases of COVID. Of those, school-aged children accounted for 360. Children ages 5-10 accounted for 179 cases. Children ages 11-13 made up 65 cases, and there were 116 new cases in children ages 14-17 since yesterday.
Across Utah, 12 people died of COVID in the past day. There are 566 people currently hospitalized with COVID now. Total hospitalizations since the start of the pandemic are 22,156.
Statewide, 508,494 people have contracted the virus, and 2,932 have died of COVID.
