Park City planners to review Deer Valley lift permit, Snow Park Village project

The Park City Planning Commission is scheduled to review two applications from Deer Valley Resort this week.

Deer Valley is seeking approval to build a new six-person bubble chairlift on Park Peak, where the resort has plans for a new lodge and gondola that will connect to Snow Park and East Village.

Deer Valley is asking the commission to review and approve updated technical reports Wednesday that assess the project’s impact on wildlife. The new details outline requirements during construction, such as a survey of migratory bird nests.

The commission will determine if the conditions are appropriate for the project to move forward.

On Wednesday the commission will also continue a review of Deer Valley’s Snow Park Village proposal, a major redevelopment project that would add hotel rooms, condos and retail space on the existing base area parking lots.

A traffic study projects the new development will generate more than 800 additional daily trips to Snow Park.

The commission has been debating strategies to limit the project’s impact, such as promoting public transit and new bike and pedestrian connections.

Public comment will be taken at Wednesday’s meeting but there will not be a vote. The commission is scheduled to review the proposal again Feb. 26.

Deer Valley hopes to break ground on Snow Park Village this summer and complete construction by 2030.

Wednesday's meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. The agenda and a link to attend virtually can be found here.
