AAA Rating On Wasatch County Open Space Bond

Benloch Ranch

The Wasatch County Council work session on Wednesday had just four of the seven members in attendance. They had a relatively light work session with several items on that agenda.

Wasatch County Manager Mike Davis says on Wednesday, prior to the council meeting, they participated in the pricing call for the $5 million open space bond.

“Looks like we’re on track to do very well with this to provide the lowest rate which will absolutely provide the lowest cost to tax payers as we do the $5 million dollar, a little under $5 million dollar issuance for the open space issuances that the council and the open space committee are working on. So, that's pretty exciting. We had very good rating, so we have AA rating. So exciting and it’s working out well.”

The 2300-acre Benloch Ranch development located off SR 32 overlooking the Jordanelle Reservoir received approval from the council to modify the requirements which called for sidewalks on both sides of the street. In consideration of the slope and view sheds, the council approved the change for the phase 1 portion of the development. Benloch Ranches development representative Nate Reeve says the development offer extensive pathways, sidewalks and open space trails and the exception won’t impact the safety or access for pedestrians.

“And so what we’re looking to do inside of title 14 and does allow, because of the grading in this location and throughout the project, we are looking to have sidewalks on one side, and then have lots of connectivity so that the residents and others in the community can come and be able to get off the roadways, off just right in front of someone’s house and enjoy the mass acreage of this development as it connects with the other developments."

The request to allow a rezone for the Sleeping Indian Ridges project was continued until the next County Council meeting when more members would be in attendance.
