Alterra Mountain Company, owner of Deer Valley Resort, announced the purchase of an East Coast ski resort on Wednesday.

The ski company announced they had entered into an agreement to purchase Sugarbush Resort on Wednesday. The nearly 500-acre, two mountain resort in Vermont will become Alterra’s 15th mountain destination in North America.

Alterra CEO Rusty Gregory described the resort as a premier East Coast mountain destination and said Alterra is excited to expand their company family in the Northeast with Sugarbush joining Stratton in Vermont.

Sugarbush was already a member of the Ikon pass and its access will remain the same for the 2019/2020 season as the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2020.

Alterra Mountain Company purchased Deer Valley in 2017 and Solitude Mountain in 2018.
