Assistant Park City Attorney Polly Samuels McLean has offered to go on unpaid leave until her legal issues are sorted out. Leslie Thatcher has this update.
Polly McLean and her husband, extreme skier Andrew McLean, were arrested on September 6th and later charged with two misdemeanor counts of theft and criminal mischief after missing hunting equipment was allegedly located in the couple’s cabin in Lamb’s Canyons. The preliminary charges were originally classified as third degree felonies.
Until recently, Polly had remained on paid administrative leave with Park City Municipal. City Manager Diane Foster says with the case still weeks away from being heard in court, McLean offered to go to unpaid status…
“Following the filing of formal charges, we were advised by her attorney that, and this is recently, that due to scheduling issues it would be at least several more weeks before her case progressed. So, in light of that last week the city initiated discussions with Polly and her attorney and she voluntarily agreed to move to unpaid leave. So, we’ll continue to evaluate the information that’s released by the prosecutor in accordance with our employee discipline policy, but I know there have been questions in the community and we’ve received questions at city hall -- just wanted to make sure that information was known.”
Park City Manager Diane Foster. For now, McLean’s job duties are being farmed out to other legal staff and the city has hired land use attorney Jody Burnett to fill in during planning commission meetings. Foster is unaware if McLean wants her job back – if she would be eligible - once the case has been adjudicated.
