Big Air Snowboard Event Cancelled

U.S. Ski and Snowboard

After much consideration, the organizers of the 2019 FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships cancelled the snowboard big air competition, based on the weather forecast and with the best interests of the athletes.

The snowboard big air finals were due to take place at Park City Mountain's Canyons Village Tuesday night. During the snowstor Tuesday, it was announced that the competition would be rescheduled, but in a prepared statement Calum Clark, chair of the organizing committee said Wednesday morning, given the amount of snow coming  to Park City and the temperatures dropping fast,  the organizing committee felt it had to cancel one of the headline events. The committee he added agreed unanimously that the safety of the athletes was their primary concern.  Despite the news, there are five more days of action and many more world champions to crown.
