Boy Says He Was Raped By Former Principal, Sues Soldier Hollow Charter School

A Utah County mother and her 17-year-old son are suing Soldier Hollow Charter School and its former principal. The suit is all related to the rape of the minor boy by the former administrator.

The lawsuit filed in Third District court alleges that when the boy was 10 years old, he and a group of students were taken on a field trip to a bowling alley. While at the bowling alley, the Midway charter school’s principal Charles Weber raped the 5th grader in the bathroom.

Weber was arrested in 2012 and later found guilty in 2013 for two counts of forcible sodomy in another case relating to a then 15-year-old. Weber was sentenced to two consecutive terms of five years to life in prison for the first-degree felonies.

Weber admitted to abusing several young boys over three decades proceeding his arrest.

The suit filed last Friday claims the Solider Hollow School board of directors had received numerous reports concerning Weber’s inappropriate behavior with students.

In 2007 a mother complained to the board that “Something weird was going on between Principal Weber and her son.”

In 2009, multiple parents, staff and teachers complained to the board that Weber had routinely been using the student restroom on campus and had removed all of the privacy panels in the restroom.

In 2009, a parent informed the board that Weber had been slapping the butts of students at the school. Another parent told the board that Weber would routinely bring students into his office alone and close his door.

Among other claims, the mother and her son are suing Soldier Hollow Charter School for damages relating to negligence and failure to warn. They are seeking an excess of $50,000 in damages.
