We continue our series about the recently held Binational Journey for artists of Mexican ancestry based in the United States by The Mexican Government organization IME (Institute for Mexicans in the Exterior) where they invited 43 artists representing 36 states in the U.S.
Ivan Orellano, born in Californa, now living in Rio Rico, Arizona. Ivan has recieved numerous awards including 1st Place for the "Maxima Busca su Estrella" competition by Radio Maxima 99.1 in Nogales, Arizona, 1st place in a competition by IMFOCULTA in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico and many others. We chat with the artist about his career, his roots, and his experiences living in a border town and having a dual citizenship. We also hear his original song "Huipango al Immigrante".
Ivan was selected among 43 others and attended a conference in Mexico City where they all met with government officials and had a chance to sample some of the amazing artwork and history that Mexico City offers, including over 150 museums, historical sites, and much more.
