A car's video camera captured a man keying cars at a Jeremy Ranch trailhead over the weekend.

Summit County Sheriff reported Tuesday that a 61-year-old Park City man came to the Sheriff’s office to confess that he had keyed several vehicles at the East Canyon Creek trailhead near Jeremy Ranch Elementary last Saturday. The man told deputies he was upset that mountain bikers were causing damage to trails and making a muddy mess.

Video reportedly taken with a Tesla’s camera and shared on social media over the weekend showed the keying happening. The video was posted with a call for help identifying the man shown.

Deputies have made contact with four vehicle owners whose cars were damaged. Damaged cars include a 2019 Honda Odyssey, a 2018 Tesla Model X, a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse and a 2021 Ford F-150. All three vehicle owners are getting damage estimates. The total damage amount is unknown, and charges will be screened by the Summit County Attorney’s Office once the investigation is complete.
