US Forest Service

The U.S. Forest service is reporting that the Slate Fire northeast of Kamas is putting out more smoke Thursday, causing more people to notice and report the fire. The lightning-caused fire was reported on August 23rd and is about three-and-a-half miles north of Highway 150. The fire is currently at 386 acres and has grown just 20 acres since Wednesday.

Meanwhile the Cobblerest Fire, also northeast of Kamas, is at 100% containment and has burned just 100 acres.
