As we have reported, several public sessions are coming up in the next month on the Kimball Junction Master Plan.
County Development Director Pat Putt talked about those, and also addressed another rumour about an item reported in the plan.
We asked Putt about a report that the plan included a road link, running from Kilby Road, over the Hi-Ute-Ranch conservation easement, in a southeast direction to the Transit Center.
Putt said that is not likely in the cards, but in the early deliberations of the Kimball Blue Ribbon committee the group wondered if a connection could be made from Kilby, near the expected park n ride lot, over to the Richins Building and Transit Center.
“There was never a strong ultimate conclusion on it," Putt explained. "What people will see in the document is nothing more than a dash blind kind of going from the Kilby park and ride over to the transit center area. What that’s meant to represent is, is there a way to make that better connection? Now would that be a road a bypass road? Is it possible? Well anything is possible, but in that particular case it's probably highly unlikely.”
Putt said it’s unlikely they can get a change made to Hi-Ute’s conservation easement. He said there might be a chance to connect the areas, though not necessarily a roadway.
He added that public meetings on the Kimball Master Plan are scheduled for May 22nd, 29th, and June 5th. Information on the Plan can be found from a link on the county’s home page.
Putt also said they’re putting out fliers, where they’re asking residents for input.
“Take a picture or a couple of pictures of the Kimball junction area of things that they think work well or they like and send us a couple pictures illustrating things that they don't like or don't work well," Putt said. "What we're going to do is we're going to use those submissions as part of our public presentation to help explain what this plan is. So, if people can help us out, send us those photographs.
