COVID-19 Kills One More Summit County Resident

COVID-19 took the life of one more Summit County resident - one of seven deaths due to the coronavirus reported by the Utah Department of Health on Tuesday.

The Summit County man who died of COVID-19 was between 65 and 84 years-old and wasn’t hospitalized at the time of his death. The county has now seen 15 total COVID-19 deaths since the start of the pandemic. 22 people have died due to the virus in Wasatch County.

To date, almost 2,400 Utahns have died due to COVID-19 and the state has administered nearly 2.9 million vaccines. 

In Summit County, 85% of eligible residents have received at least one dose of a vaccine and has administered more than 56,000 total vaccines. In Wasatch County, 57% of eligible residents have received at least one dose. Wasatch has given out almost 29,000 doses.  Anyone 12 and older is eligible to receive the vaccine.

Summit County is in a low transmission level and is reporting three new cases as of Sunday.

Meanwhile in Wasatch County, the health department reports the county is in a moderate level of transmission and reported three new cases on Monday.

The Utah Department of Health announced 1,149  new COVID-19 cases statewide over the four day weekend.
