Deer Valley Preparing For 2nd Season Of Summer Concert Series

Deer Valley Resort

With the help of The State Room Presents, Deer Valley is launching the 2nd year of their summer concert series.

As of right now the series has four acts booked to play at the Snow Park Amphitheater as part of the summer concert series.

The series launches with Michael Franti & Spearhead as well as Ziggy Marley on June 30th Darin Piccoli with The State Room Presents introduces the other acts.

“Indie superstar Jenny Lewis, that is on Thursday July 11th,” Piccoli continued. “Then we have a little break because the symphony kind of takes over through July. We have a great co-headline show on Sunday August 11th with Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals with Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue. Saturday August 17th, we have another great co-bill with John Butler Trio and soul rocker St. Paul & the Broken Bones, which is a heck of a show. They played the Utah Arts Festival last year.”

Piccoli says they’ll also probably announce two to three more acts in the next month.

Tickets are divided into three sections, General Admission, reserved seating and GA floor in the front of the stage. Piccoli describes the feel of the GA floor area.

“Kind of like a dance pit up front,” Piccoli explained. “It’s really fun it engages with the artist pretty significantly. You’re still allowed to bring blankets and small coolers in there just no chairs. There’s a front section that’s pretty exclusive that will go on sale with the pre-sale. Then there’s reserved seating in-between that GA floor and then where the sound board is and then that will also be on sale for the pre-sale. Then all the GA lawn. Judging by how it went with Michael Franti and Ziggy Marley those GA floor and reserve seats went awfully quick. So if you’re interested in getting up close for the show definitely 10:00 am on Thursday is the key time to grab those tickets.”

Local presale tickets become available this Thursday with the public on sale launching Friday morning at 10:00 am. Coleen Reardon with Deer Valley says the resort has plans to improve the experience at the summer concert series.

“We have a five-year plan,” Reardon said. “We do all those fun things that you never notice like re-seeding. It’s on the five-year plan to do some regrading. To make the upper seats a little more—the slope easier for viewers in the back. We’re looking at video boards for this series too because we think that’s really important especially for those people that do like to sit away from the crowds. Lots to be determined on our five-year plan but we’re moving towards it.”

The resort does have one improvement that will be ready to go this year.

“We’re moving the concession stand away from right by the stage and front and center over to the left side,” Reardon explained. “Accomplish a couple of things, make it more comfortable for our artists we can grill burgers without annoying smoke blowing on them and it really makes for a better presentation for our guests too. Easier to get to in and out, close to bathrooms, all that good stuff.”

In addition to the Deer Valley Concert Series the Snowpark Amphitheater will also host the Deer Valley Music Festival as well as the free Grand Valley Bank Community Concert Series. You can find a link to the entire summer concert line-up here.
