Epic Pass Opens Its Reservation System as Customers Are Met With Long Wait Times

Vail Corporation opened their online reservations system on Friday. Epic Pass owners will have to reserve ski days this winter at all of Vail’s resorts, including Park City Mountain Resort.

I got in line at about 11:00 Friday morning to make a reservation to ski this winter on the Epic Pass website. There were over 128,000 people in front of me. Three hours later, I was in and ready to reserve a ski day.

Not all of those 128,000 people were there to reserve days at PCMR, though. The system was the same for all of Vail’s resorts and once I was in, it was a fairly simple process.

Reservations are required to access all resorts covered by the Epic Pass as an effort to limit the transmission of COVID-19 this winter. Priority reservations have been given to passholders.

In addition to reservations, on-mountain health regulations include a mask requirement and physical distancing in lift lines. Lift attendants will only be loading riders who are skiing or snowboarding in the same group.

Physical distancing will continue on the lifts themselves as attendants will load a reduced number of riders per chair or gondola cabin.

The ski & ride school will also require a reservation and participants will have to undergo an online self-health screening prior to arriving at the mountain. Group lessons will be limited to a maximum of six people.

As of Friday afternoon, Vail says they still have availability at every resort for every day of their core season. PCMR’s opening day is scheduled for November 20th to passholders and day tickets will go on sale December 8th.

Park City’s other flagship resort, Deer Valley, is not a Vail property and currently has no plans to implement a reservation system this winter.
