**Update April 29, 2020:
The flyover route has been released, and shows the F-35A formation will be over the Park City area around 2:45pm Thursday.
There will be thunder in the skies Thursday afternoon as fighter jets fly over Utah. Hill Air Force Base announced the flyover is a “salute” to everyone on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19, and also to those staying at home to “flatten the curve” of the virus.
Four planes will fly in formation starting at one in the afternoon. F35A Demo Team pilot, Captain Kristin Wolfe, will lead three combat-ready pilots from the 388th Fighter Wing. She said the flyover is a "small showcase of appreciation" for everyone who is doing their part to combat COVID-19, and also a way to let everyone who has been affected by the pandemic know the Air Force stands by them.
The flyover is scheduled to take off from the base near Ogden, then proceed south through Salt Lake City down to St. George, before looping up to Park City and Logan, then back to the base.
The commander of the 388th Fighter Wing says the flyover also provides essential training for the pilots and demonstrates the readiness of the Air Force. According to the Air Force, the F-35 is known for its stealth qualities that allows it to penetrate airspace that other aircraft cannot and destroy high-threat targets both in the air and on the ground.
Again, the flight will start Thursday at 1pm. A flight map will be released later this week prior to the flyover. We will share that on our website, kpcw.org, as soon as it is available.
