UPDATE: Saturday Afternoon Duchesne County Sheriff's Department announced they had located the body of Austin Harker. Search and Rescue members located Harker by flying over the area in a National Guard helicopter. Detectives found no evidence of foul play. The Utah State Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death. Duchesne and Wasatch County Sheriff's Department both expressed their condolences to Harker's family.
UPDATE: Friday Night Sheriff's Department announced Austin Harker's vehicle has been located in the Lake Canyon area of Duchesne County, but he is still missing.
Wasatch County Sheriff’s Department is asking for information to help find a missing fly fisherman.
On Thursday, March 12th, Robert “Austin” Harker, a 34-year-old man from Millcreek area traveled to Strawberry River southeast of Heber to fly fish.
The Sheriff’s Department said Harker called his wife that morning saying the Solider Creek Dam Road he intended to use was closed and he was driving further east to fish. He was supposed to return home that Thursday afternoon but has not been seen or heard from since around 11:00 am that morning.
Harker was last seen driving a 2013 four door Toyota Tacoma truck, gray in color with a shell. There is a hard-sided fishing rod mounted on top of the shell.
Harker is described as being about 6’3’ and 210 pounds, a Caucasian man with a short beard. He is likely wearing fishing gear. The sheriff’s department asks anyone who has seen Harker or his vehicle on Thursday or Friday March 12th or 13th are encouraged to contact the Wasatch County Dispatch center by calling 435-654-1411.
