The Utah Department of Health reported that the state has crossed the 2 million mark for doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered.
With over 29,000 vaccine doses administered since Thursday, Utah has officially crossed the 2 million shot threshold for vaccinations.
To be exact, the Health Department reports 2,014,815 doses of Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines have been administered in the state. Nearly 1.2 million Utahns have received at least one dose and just shy of 800,000 people are considered to be fully vaccinated, according to the Health Department.
The Health Department recommended a pause in the administration of the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine last week after six women between the ages of 18 and 48 experienced a rare type of blood clot. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccine advisory committee is currently meeting to determine if Johnson & Johnson vaccines should resume. Currently, there have been no serious symptoms from the Johnson & Johnson vaccine reported in Utah.
Statewide, 344 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday. The rolling seven-day average for positive tests across Utah is now 369 per day.
Summit County reported three new cases on Friday. Wasatch County reported two.
The seven-day averages for the percent of positive laboratory tests both dropped by about a tenth of a percentage point with the people-over-people average now at 5.8% and the tests-over-tests average at 2.9%. 4,580 people have been tested since Thursday.
140 Utahns are currently hospitalized with the disease, up three from Thursday. COVID-19 referral center ICUs across the state are currently 68.7% full.
The Health Department reported one additional COVID-19 death on Friday, a Utah County man between the ages of 65 and 84. He was a long-term care facility resident at the time of his death. The Health Department said the death occurred before March 23rd. To date, 2,179 Utahns have died of the disease.
