A second person in Utah has died due to COVID-19. The Southwest Utah Public Health Department reports a woman, "an older adult under the age of 60" with underlying health issues, passed away Thursday in a Salt Lake area hospital.
The Utah Department of Health released new numbers Friday about COVID-19 in the state. There are 480 confirmed cases statewide, up 78 from Thursday. Summit County now has 110 cases, up from 103. One-hundred-two are residents, and 8 are visitors. Wasatch County has 29 confirmed cases, up 8 from the day before. Twenty-eight are residents and one is a visitor.
Salt Lake County has 221 cases, up 40 from Thursday. After Summit County, the county with the highest numbers is Davis County with 50 cases.
UDOH reports 9,244 people have been tested in Utah. About 5% of those tests come back positive. Utah State Epidemiologist Dr. Angela Dunn says there has not been an exponential increase in cases, which means social distancing orders appear to be working.
