Heber City Council To Consider Subdivision, Assisted Living Facility

Ben Lasseter/KPCW

Heber City Council has a packed agenda for its meeting tonight. Topics for discussion include new development and bolstering infrastructure to accommodate growth.

The council is scheduled to vote on a new 16-acre subdivision west of Rocky Mountain Elementary School, surrounding a church at 650 South. The Kimball Villas would bring 64 units of moderate-density housing and an assisted living facility with 68 rooms.

At tonight’s meeting, the council will also consider authorizing city staff to negotiate a contract for a major sewer and water line project with Sunrise Engineering.

The contract would be for the first phase of a project to replace water and sewer lines within 121 blocks in the Old Town area. Heber City manager Matt Brower told KPCW the first phase will cost about $24 million.

The Kimball Villas development would take up about 16 acres of vacant land that is currently listed for agricultural use.

Also on the agenda, the council will consider an amendment to its sensitive lands ordinance. This would add protections to aquifers and surface water related to local developments and tweak zoning details.

A public comment period will be held before discussion of agenda action items.

The council will begin its work session at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, then hold its regular council meeting at 7 p.m. City Hall is at 75 North Main Street.
