Heber Parkway And Main Street Open House Scheduled For Wednesday

Heber City

Heber City and UDOT are holding an open house to discuss the future of the Main Street Corridor and the Heber Valley Parkway Wednesday evening.

The open house takes place from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Heber Valley Elementary School located at 730 South 600 West.

Those who attend the open house will be able to view the recommended route of the parkway as well as the results of the Heber City Main Street Study.

Heber City Manager Matt Brower says that the open house is an opportunity for citizens to provide feedback to the city.

“The public hearing slated for February 20th is a combination of about a years’ worth of work,” Brower explained. “We’re hoping to get additional feedback from the public on the work that’s been done to date on the bypass proposal. Based on that feedback we’ll continue to make more decisions and begin the environmental assessment process which is the next step in the work.”

The next step in creating the parkway bypass is securing $4 millions for an environmental impact study.

“We have numerous avenues we’re pursuing,” Brower said. “CIB grant, we’re also looking at trying to get it earmarked in the legislature and working through the UDOT budgetary process to see if we can’t find the money for the EIS.”

The Wednesday evening meeting will feature officials from Heber City and UDOT.

KPCW reporter David Boyle covers all things in the Heber Valley as well as sports and breaking news.
