Intermountain Healthcare — which operates the Park City Hospital — plans to merge with another not-for-profit healthcare system.
Intermountain announced their intent to merge with Sanford Health, which is located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
In a press release about the partnership, the CEO and President of Intermountain, Marc Harrison said “through coordinated care, increased use of telehealth and digital health services, we will make healthcare more affordable for our communities.”
Harrison will continue to serve as the president and CEO of the combined organization.
Intermountain operates the Park City Hospital along with 23 other hospitals and more than 225 clinics primarily in Utah, Idaho and Nevada. The healthcare system has over 41,000 caregivers.
Sanford Health has operations in 24 states, with 46 hospitals and more than 48,000 employees.
The joint organization will have headquarters in Salt Lake City and corporate offices in South Dakota. There are no plans to change the names of either organization at this time.
