Midway's Ice Castles Will Reopen This Winter Season Despite Pandemic

Ice Castles

In a year where many annual traditions and events have been put on hold, Midway’s Ice Castles will reopen this winter.

The winter wonderland will still offer its icy playground in January despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each year the acre of land is designed with frozen slides, crawl spaces and caves. During the night there are lights that illuminate the ice and in the day it looks like the inside of a glacier.

This year their operations will continue, but with new protocols, according to a press release. They will now operate at a limited capacity, and tunnels and crawl spaces will be labeled as one-way to limit exposure with other people. All guests and employees will also be required to wear masks.

They have already begun to grow and harvest icicles and are slated to open sometime in January.
