Monday COVID-19 Update: 194 New Cases Statewide, 7 Cases In Summit County, 5 In Wasatch

Utah has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases week over week for the past two days.

The Utah Department of Health announced 194 new cases, which is about 30 more cases than the state saw at the same time last week. 

In the Wasatch Back, both Summit and Wasatch Counties saw slight increases in cases week over week. 

Summit County reported seven new cases. In comparison, last Monday, Summit saw five. 

Wasatch County reported five new cases - up considerably from last Monday when the county saw one.  

There were 2,403 people tested for the first time statewide, with around 4,664 total tests administered. On average over 3% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the average percent positivity for “people over people” is just under 7%. 

Utah’s Department of Health reported no new deaths. To date, 2,114 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including 11 from Summit County and 21 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 12 new hospitalizations. There are 138 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 65% of all referral center ICU beds are in use.

There were 3,214 people vaccinated for COVID-19 since Sunday, bringing the total number to 1,307,533 doses administered. 

Summit County has administered 26,894 total vaccines and Wasatch has given out 14,142 doses. Both counties are registering to vaccinate residents 16 years or older.
