Monday COVID-19 Update: Utah Sees Lowest Daily Case Count In 6 Months

Utah saw its lowest COVID-19 daily case count in 6 months Monday.

 

The Utah Department of Health announced 257 new COVID-19 cases Monday, which is about 100 fewer cases than the state saw at the same time last week.

There were 3,133 people tested for the first time, with 6,517 total tests administered. On average about 5% of “tests over tests” are coming back positive, while the percent positivity for “people over people” is 11%. 

Summit County reported five new cases, In comparison, last Monday, Summit saw two.

Wasatch County reported six new cases. Last Monday, the county saw three.

Utah’s Department of Health reported five new deaths. To date, 1,940 Utahns have died due to COVID-19, including nine from Summit County and 20 from Wasatch County.

The department also reported 29 new hospitalizations. There are 214 people in the hospital for COVID-19, in the state. Around 68% of all referral center ICU beds are in use, the lowest usage since mid-October.

A reported, 4,493 people were vaccinated for COVID-19 since Sunday, bringing the total number to 721,029 doses administered. Summit and Wasatch Counties are registering to vaccinate residents 65-years or older and people with certain underlying medical conditions.
