No New COVID-19 Hospitalizations in Summit & Wasatch Counties for One Week

The Utah Department of Health released new numbers Saturday afternoon about COVID-19 in the state. According to the new case count, both Summit and Wasatch counties have not had any new hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in one week.

There are 3,948 confirmed COVID-19 cases statewide, up 166, or 4%, from Friday. Summit County has 355 cases, up four from Friday. Thirty-one patients have been hospitalized.  Wasatch County has 132 confirmed cases, up three since Friday. Six have been hospitalized. Both counties have not seen any new hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since Saturday, April 18.

Salt Lake County has the most confirmed cases in the state at 2,051. Utah County has the second most cases in the state with 725, making Summit County the third highest case count in Utah. 329 people have been hospitalized statewide.

Two more people have died from COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths in Utah to 41 residents.  The two most recent deaths were both female over the age of 60, with underlying medical conditions.  One was in Salt Lake County.  The other was in Washington County.

The health department estimates that 1,399 people have recovered from COVID-19.  UDOH says 90,206 people have been tested in Utah and the rate of positive cases is 4.3% of those tested.
