Outlets Park City Owners Must Clear Hurdles Before Making Grocery Store a Reality

Outlets Park City

A new proposal submitted to Summit County would bring significant change to the Outlets Park City near Kimball Junction – a new grocery store.

County Development Director Pat Putt said the mall’s owners want to tear down and rebuild a portion of the center including space for a 59,000-square-foot grocery store.

He said, however, that their application will have to change.

“The application that was submitted was an application to amend the existing (specialty planned area). I think what will be necessary and moving forward won’t be an amendment, but it’s going to require a new specialty planned area (SPA) application. That SPA that we have at the Outlets, which it was originally approved in 1999. The agreement associated with that SPA expired I think sometime around in 2004. So in order to move forward in the process, we’re going to be working with them, if they decide to move forward with the more appropriate application.”

Putt said the project hasn’t yet been scheduled to appear before the Snyderville Planning Commission.
