The Park City Institute has back to back speakers Friday and Saturday. KPCW’s Leslie Thatcher has more about the two, very different evenings.
Tonight, Institute Director Teri Orr says that Pulitzer prize winning journalist Jodi Kantor will sit down in an interview format and talk about the myriad of topics she’s written about.
“She is someone who has written on everything from breast feeding in airports to Amazon and the tech industry and all of the crazy culture that’s there. She was the youngest editor of a section of the New York Times, ever. And of course we got to know her in a much broader sense when she won the Pulitzer last year with her writing partner Megan Twohey and Ronan Farrow for the #metoo stories that appeared in the New York Times and his story, of course, appeared in The New Yorker.”
They’ll also discuss the work Kantor did - along with her New York Times colleague to pull back the curtain on movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s alleged abuse towards women.
The #metoo stories, for those who might not be familiar, talked about Harvey Weinstein in particular and his years, decades really, of intimidation and sexual assault of women in general and certainly actresses and one of those threads lead her to Park City and an incident that happened in Park City.”
On Saturday, the Institute presents the final of its National Geographic Live series, Steven Winter – a photographer who follows big cats around the globe.
“He has been taking photographs in the wild for a very long time and his intimate portraits of these wonderful giant cats are spectacular and so are the stories that go with them.”
