Park City’s annual celebration of it’s Miner heritage features a full slate of activities. The event starts at City park with the Miners’ Day Breakfast from 7:30-9:30 am, at 8:00 am is the 5k run. The festivities continue on Main Street with the Running of the Balls at 10:45 right before the Parade slated to begin at 11:00 am. Park City Special Events Manager Jenny Dierson tells listeners how they can get to the event.
“We will have a dedicated bus lane for Miners’ Day. That’ll be up from probably about 8:00 in the morning until just after the parade. Again, that is in an effort to expedite transit to the event. We are charging for parking for the event in China Bridge. It is $10 per vehicle between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. Remember that we take all parking off of Main Street, Swede Alley, all of the Swede surface lots, Heber Avenue and Park Avenue. From 9th street to 14th street on Park Avenue.”
Miners’ Day celebration continues at City Park with a vast array of music, kids’ games, food and other events at City Park, including the Mucking and Drilling Competition across from the library on Park Ave. Dierson says they’ll have a bike valet and that they’ll have a closure at South City park.
“The bike valet that Miners’ Day will have will be in the Mawhinney parking lot that’s right where the mucking and drilling is set up. That’s just off of Poison Creek trail and that’ll be open until about 4:00 pm until just about the end of the event. South City Park will be closed starting at 6:00 am on Monday, that’s September 3rd until about 1:00 pm for all of the festivities. In the evening is the Jason Mraz concert at Deer Valley. As we’ve reported, the city and Deer Valley will be experimenting as cars leaving the Deer Valley parking lots will only be able to turn right, while buses will be able to go in the opposite direction. Dierson says that they hope this will mitigate traffic issues.
