Park City Named 'Healthy Utah Community'

Park City was one of 11 communities designated a “Healthy Utah Community” at the 2021 Utah League of Cities and Towns midyear conference.

The Healthy Utah Community designation program was established in 2020 by Get Healthy Utah and the Utah League of Cities and Towns.

The designation recognizes Park City’s efforts to improve the health of its residents. To earn the designation, Park City and the other 10 communities implemented strategies like partnering with local health departments, building and maintaining walking and biking trails, offering medication disposal services, supporting community gardens, and developing an active transportation plan.

In a prepared statement, Greg Bell, chair of the Get Healthy Utah Board said the communities earned the honor by “working collaboratively, addressing access to healthy food and active living, and focusing on mental health, cities and towns can improve the health of residents.”

Recent research conducted by Get Healthy Utah and the University of Utah Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute found that community health as a top priority, or one of respondents’ top priorities, grew 33% since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020.
