Park City Native Gets Golden Ticket On American Idol

ABC/Christopher Willard

A Park City native got his golden ticket while auditioning for American Idol.

Wyatt Pike, who grew up in Park City, got exciting news during his appearance on American Idol Sunday night.

“You’re going to Hollywood," the judges exclaimed in unison.

Pike got three yeses from the famous judges of the show - Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie - after he performed his original song, “Best for You.”

Richie likened him to one of the best-selling singer-songwriters of all time.

“You’re a modern day James Taylor… your version,” Richie said.

Pike got his start in the music world through gig performances around town, specifically in lift lines on the mountain.

He now continues his journey onto Hollywood week, which starts this Sunday at 8/7c.
