Parsons Dance Kicks Off Park City Institute's Summer Season

Park City Institute

Park City Institute found a quick replacement for its first show of the season, after a last minute change with the orginal act.

Parsons Dance will kick offPark City Institute's summer season on July 3. The international touring dance company includes Utah native Zoey Anderson and was rescheduled in place of Complexions Contemporary Ballet.

Institute Executive Director Ari Ioannidis said when Complexions postponed, he was able to immediately reschedule the event.

"Just right on that same call, they said, 'well, Parsons is available.' And we knew Zoey was a local kind of Salt Lake person who is in Parsons," Ioannidis said. "And we had also promoted Parsons during the pandemic with some of their online shows. So it was just a natural fit, we’ll let them slide into that same slot."

Last year’s show was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. This year Complexions rescheduled due to personnel changes.

Even though the group has changed, Ioannidis said the Institute is looking forward to welcoming back guests in-person again.

"We're excited in any way to be able to present shows once again and open our doors because like the Egyptian and Park City film, and mountain town music, it's been very, very hard on all the performing arts agencies to stay relevant, stay viable during this hard time," he said.

The institute anticipates Complexion to be back in Spring 2022. Patrons can hold onto their tickets until next year or get a refund from the box office.
