Primary Ballots Must Be Mailed Today

KPCW

Today is the last day to put a stamp on your election ballot and put it in the mail before the post office's last pickup.

Several Summit and Wasatch County municipalities have primary elections on Tuesday. If you don’t get your ballot mailed in time today, you can still take it to a number of drop-off boxes until 8 p.m. tomorrow. In Summit County, boxes are located at the Marsac building parking lot, the Market at Park City, the Kamas Services Building and the Summit County Clerk’s office in Coalville.

In Wasatch County, you can bring your ballot to the Wasatch County offices at 25 North Main Street. Wasatch County Clerk-Auditor Joey Granger told KPCW that her office is only certifying signatures of the ballots that are coming into the office for the primaries being held in Charleston and Daniel – the only two Wasatch County municipalities that have a primary election. The ballots she said will be counted by each city’s election officers.

Summit County Clerk Eve Furse said as of end of day Friday, they had received about 3,000 ballots - a low turnout compared to a general election. The Summit County Clerk's office does all of the signature certification and also counts the votes. The results  she said are then delivered to the municipal election officers who will also be in Coalville watching the vote count.

Heber City is participating in ranked-choice voting this year. Candidates for mayor and city councilcan file for office  between Tuesday, August 10 through Tuesday, August 17 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the city's clerk's office.
