Public Art Dons ...Snout Masks To Comply With Health Guidelines

There’s an anonymous prankster who has taken social distancing and germ management to our public art displays around town.
By week four in the time of COVID-19, we’re all used to staying close to home, avoiding public places and using the direction of the county health department to venture out of our sanitized shelters. Someone, an art lover of sorts, has taken the initiative to give our public art a little coronavirus germ protection as well.

The bronze bear seated on the bench in front of shops on Main Street can breathe easy knowing his germs won’t be passed along. The moose that stands sentry outside Cole Sport has a custom fitted mask to keep from snorting on passers-by. Even the larger than life miner’s statue in the pocket park on Main is wearing a mask. Park City Art won’t contribute to community spread.

Because we’re under a Stay-at-Home order, it’s likely few have seen the protective masks which now adorn many sculptures up and down Main Street and throughout town.

Photos of Park City’s renowned sculptures wearing protective masks first appeared on a local Facebook page. KPCW has been given permission to share the photos on our website.
