Repairs On The Heber Ave. Waterline Have Yet To Begin - Road Is Still Open

As we’ve reported earlier, 200,000 gallons of water were lost when the waterline on Heber Ave. busted on Thursday. The city said the road would be closed between Park Ave. and Main St. no later than Wednesday morning. Melissa Allison brings us the latest on what is, or isn’t, happening on Heber Ave.:

Public Utilities Manager Clint McAffee initiated an emergency contract to begin the replacement of the waterline between Park Ave. and Main St. He told KPCW that Beck Construction would begin arriving on scene as early as Tuesday afternoon and the road would be closed no later than Wednesday morning.

But when KPCW followed up on site, the road was open to traffic and not a single construction vehicle from Beck or the city was present.

It’s not clear whether it is the weather holding the city up or issues getting the supplies to replace the waterline that was put in place in the mid 70’s.

KPCW reached out to the city for an update via phone and email but received no response by the end of business on Wednesday.

The contract is for $360,000 and McAffee said they should be done before November.
