Rolling Blackouts In Summit County

Submitted by Rock Mountain Power

Update:

Wednesday 12:15 p.m.

Rotating outages in Summit County have concluded

Wednesday 9:30 a.m. update

More than 12,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers in Utah are currently without power as a result of a fast moving, high-impact storm on Tuesday. Most of these customers are in the Salt Lake City and Summit County areas. High winds and pole fires were the primary cause of outages. Crews worked throughout the night and continue working today to restore power to all affected customers.

Because of damage to two transmission lines that provide power to Summit County, we have initiated rotating outages. This is being done to minimize the impact to all customers in the area. These outages are currently affecting an additional 3,500 customers in Summit County. We anticipate alternating the areas affected by these outages in hourly intervals throughout the day as repairs are being made.

For more information about power outages, customers can call toll free at 1-877-508-5088 or visit our website at rockymountainpower.net/outage. Customers can also get outage updates and safety information on their smart phone at rockymountainpower.net/mobile.

KPCW will continue to update information on traffic conditions and power outages on-air at 91.9FM and 88.1FM, as well as on the web and on our facebook page.
