Saturday COVID-19 Update: Five Statewide Deaths, 24 Cases in Summit County, 16 in Wasatch

The Utah Department of Health reported five statewide COVID-19 deaths on Saturday, the lowest statewide death count since October of last year.

 

Saturday’s five statewide deaths brings Utah’s death toll since the start of the pandemic to 1,733. Saturday’s deaths included three women and two men. None of the deaths were from either Summit or Wasatch Counties.

 

As of Saturday, seven individuals have died in Summit County from the disease since the start of the pandemic, 17 in Wasatch County.

 

1,211 new cases were also reported on Saturday, 24 in Summit County and 16 in Wasatch County.

The statewide rolling seven-day average of positive tests continued to decline and is now at 1,183 per day. The rolling seven-day average of the percent of positive tests declined as well to 16.2%.

 

Both averages in Summit and Wasatch Counties have seen similar declines this month as well.

 

There are 335 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 statewide, 14 fewer than Friday. Statewide COVID-19 referral center ICU capacity is now at 83.9%, up four percent.
