A semi-truck driver, who pled to charges after driving recklessly through the Snyderville Basin, has been sentenced to three years of probation.
The defendant, 41-year-old Dustin Charles Cullom of Chico, California, was given 24 days of jail time, but got credit for already serving that amount of time behind bars. The sentence was handed down Monday by Third District Court Judge Patrick Corum.
He was arrested December 15th, following reports of reckless driving down Old Ranch Road. He fled after being pulled over by an officer, and forced numerous vehicles off the road, including a deputy’s patrol car, during a chase that went from the I-80 frontage roads to the Interstate.
Earlier this year, Cullom pled to one Count of Aggravated Assault and one Count of Failure to Respond to Officer’s Signal to stop, both Third Degree Felonies. He was sentenced to a prison term of up to five years, and a $5,000 fine, on each Count, but Judge Corum suspended those.
Under the terms of his probation the defendant has to undergo a Substance Abuse Evaluation and complete any recommended treatment, undergo a Mental Health Evaluation and take medications as prescribed.
Cullom may also obtain permission to transfer his probation to California.
