Among other incidents, the Summit County Sheriff’s department is reporting on two ambitious thieves striking stores at Kimball Junction—and a case of graffiti at one of the Junction’s newest buildings.
The department reported that a male suspect struck the State Liquor Store at Kimball Junction two days in a row last week.
On Monday the 17th, a suspect stole six bottles of champagne from the store. The next day, the same person walked out with four bottles of wine and beer.
Store employees say they believe he’s been involved in other thefts in the past. The suspect is described as a white male, six feet tall with grey hair, roughly 200 lbs. and about 50 years old.
This week, early Monday morning, a suspect robbed the Wal-Mart of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise and fled before deputies arrived. Surveilance footage showed the suspect was an African-American woman, in a white and black hoodie, who left in a black car.
An inventory later showed the store was missing over $54,000 in merchandise. Sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Wright said the suspect made off with 60 to 70 cell phones. He said, though, the thief didn’t accomplish much, because an activation process has to take place for the phones to work.
Finally, last Friday, deputies responded to a complaint and found four male juveniles dressed in black on the roof of Whole Foods, spray painting graffiti on several walls.
Lt. Wright said the graffiti was a mixed bag, with messages reading “AC/DC”, “Love of Mine”, “Welcome” and images of a smiley-face, a musical note and the pound sign. He said it looks like the graffiti can’t be seen unless you’re on top of the building.
The incident report said that parents of the juveniles were contacted and picked up the suspects.
