Snyderville Basin Rec Offers Adult Programs Starting Now And New Trails and Playgrounds Coming

SBRD

The Snyderville Basin Recreation District will begin a survey later this month asking for input from the community.  This spring, they have new trail projects planned along with an equipment update to the Trailside playground. Day camps are available for kids ages 6 to 12 during President’s week. For the first time, they’re offering camp for 4 to 6-year-olds during the holiday week.

Snyderville Basin Recreation District Director, Brian Hanton says the survey is a partnership with Park City Municipal and it will be available on line the end of February. They’ve hired Y-2 Analytics to conduct the survey and hope to have results by April.

“And, then with that, we’re going to tie it into our facility demand study. First finding what the community needs and then seeing what we need to build. And, hopefully with Silver Creek’s potential building spot, we have some other HOA’s that have thrown out some properties to us. So hopefully, we can a way to satisfy the community needs a little bit better.”

The invitation to participate in the survey will go to Basin Rec facility users and non-users alike via email and US post.

Basin Rec is planning to develop a trail system near the Wilenman School and the Discovery project currently under construction at the bottom of Summit Park.

“So, our plan is to put in a parking area there with hopes to alleviate some pressures in the surrounding neighborhoods. And, then develop a little trail system tying into those neighborhoods. We’re in the planning stages of that right now.”

Hanton says the trail head parking area will hold 30 to 40 cars. The new trails will connect existing networks in Summit Park and Pinebrook neighborhoods.

“Our plan is a looped network within there. But, also tying into the new trail that we put in Summit Park or Toll Canyon area. So, tying that in there and allowing people to get all the way up to the Road to Waz and those types of trails, multi-use trails so hike, bike however you want to get up there."

The upper Trailside Playground will be replaced this spring. They hope the facility will be ready by mid-summer.

Registration for adult programs like basketball, flag football and pickleball are open to teams and free agents.
