Members of the Snyderville Planning Commission have a couple of meetings on their agenda this week, including a session with the county council.
The Snyderville Commisison, meeting on Tuesday, 4:30 pm at the Richins Services Building, only has one item.
County Development Director Pat Putt said they’re discussing how to tweak the planning code on appeals, whether they are made against staff decisions or the Planning Commisison’s. He said the idea is to give everybody a better idea of what to expect.
“What we’re looking to do is to help build in some predictability in terms of timelines for materials to be submitted, when those materials are shared between the parties. From time to time those decisions are appealed. In order to help all the players involved, we thought we would be better served by helping to build a better structure.”
And on Wednesday night, they will meet with the County Council on some other plan code updates. Putt said this comes as they’ve been looking at five possible mixed-use locations around the Basin, including at Kimball Junction.
“We currently have a Community Commercial zone that allows a broad spectrum of uses. It’s not a great tool when it comes to having a bit more flexibility and design. We really don’t have a provision to consider in the right location possibly a taller building in exchange for under-building or structured parking. That might be able to give us more public space or open space. We don’t have the ability to possibly exchange some building height for occasional workforce housing under that. We’ve been studying a neighborhood mixed-use zone that would allow those sorts of trade-offs to occur.”
