Soldier Hollow Offers Outdoor Options

Soldier Hollow

Soldier Hollow opens December 18 for the season with a handful of new recreation options. Due to continued concerns with Covid-19 transmission, there are a few changes to consider for those who want to recreate this winter at Soldier Hollow.

Early Bird Season passes are on sale for $100.00 through the end of November. Yearly passes will cost seniors $75.00 and $50.00 for youth under age 18. Soldier Hollow General Manager Luke Bodensteiner says they’re offering some additional services and access this year.

“Those passes are more than just the season passes. They’re really annual passes for Soldier Hollow. They come with some pretty incredible add on’s or  sort of incentives. It includes a couple of midweek tubing passes. Fifty percent discount on E-bike rentals during the summer. Twenty percent discount on retail up at the Nordic shop. So, it's an incredibly good deal. I really encourage everybody to pick up a pass because a lot of people are going to be out cross country skiing this winter. It has public access to the roller ski trail we have down there as well as discounts on some of the summer activities that we have down there.”

There will be restrictions on the number of people in the lodge at one time so reservations will be required for those who want to sit inside.

In addition to tubing and Nordic skiing, they’ll offer E-Fat bikes for rent this winter. They’re allowing opportunities to ride them on the groomed ski trails at Soldier Hollow.

“To be used both on the surrounding trails. For instance, the Deer Creek trail or up on the Cascade Springs Road or also for guided tours on the ski trails when the conditions allow, which is pretty often. I mean the grooming is really really good at Soldier Hollow and let's just put the bikes out there in kind of a controlled way. But a great opportunity if you're not a skier and want tour the Olympic trails and get that experience you could do that on an E-fat bike.”

Tubing doesn’t require reservations but Bodensteiner says they usually sell out on weekends and holidays. This season they’ll have a 50% off promotion on the tubing hill for Mondays.

“For guests who do come up and tube, their ticket will  also be valid for skiing to try to encourage more skiing participation and we're doing some promotions for instance families you have a student in the free and reduced school lunch program are eligible to receive a free family season pass and free family rentals during the winter so you know we expected a lot of the community to be up in the upper skiing with us know making it started and we're looking forward to getting going.”
