Summit County has received a couple of formal challenges to its recent Stay At Home order. One appeal was heard by the Board of Health on Monday.
Summit County Manager Tom Fisher told us that the Health Board heard an appeal from the Four Seasons transportation firm, which wanted to start third-person deliveries. However, that appeal was rejected by the Board.
Fisher said another appeal came from the Board of Realtors, which wants to continue the marketing of homes. He said the Health Department worked out a resolution with the realtors.
“Some of that is still considered essential business, from the standpoint of lending and banking. Course, property transactions will still happen during this time. And of course from the county’s side, recordings will still happen. The group worked with the Health Department to come up with ways that the real estate agents could still show property, to mostly working from home, and still be able to provide transactions. Because shelter, of course, is still a necessary function. (Leslie) I’m guessing what was shut down then—open houses, but if somebody’s serious a showing can be held? (Fisher) We would prefer that showings be held electronically. That is, not of course, ideal but possible, minimizing, of course, contact between, the kind of contact we’re trying to prevent with Stay At Home Orders.”
